Yasser Alsaied is the Vice President of IoT at Amazon Web Services (AWS), leading the AWS IoT business, which includes IoT Core, Industrial, Automotive, Space, and IoT devices. Under Yasser's leadership, AWS IoT has become a global leader in connected services, driving significant advancements in digital twins, manufacturing, smart cities and connected vehicles.
Since joining AWS, Yasser has overseen the launch of numerous innovative services, such as AWS IoT FleetWise, AWS IoT ExpressLink, and AWS IoT TwinMaker. Prior to AWS, Yasser held various leadership roles at Qualcomm, where he served as the Vice President of IoT. At Qualcomm, he managed teams that released the company's first WLAN chip for mobile phones and led the formation of the Qualcomm Innovation Center (QuIC) and Code Aurora Foundation (CAF), addressing legal and operational challenges in open-source software. He also spearheaded the Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) program, significantly expanding Qualcomm's market share in China by aiding local manufacturers in producing phones based on Qualcomm technologies.
Yasser's career spans over 30 years in the semiconductors, cloud, and wireless industries. Before Qualcomm, he developed software for military applications, working with clients such as the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin. He has been involved in the development of critical technologies for the Patriot missile, Tomahawk missile, M1A2 tank, Rockwell nuclear submarine, AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopter, and the DarkStar UAV. His experience also includes significant contributions at Nortel Networks, Philips, ATI, and AMD, where he played key roles in advancing consumer electronics.
