As the Manager for the Engineering Division in the Aramco Americas Technical Services Department, Theo leads a team of subject matter experts in a variety of engineering disciplines and serves as the company representative for major capital projects being executed in the Americas.
The Engineering team provides support for operational issues, including the maintenance of hundreds of third-party contracts for specialist assistance. Their work naturally involves new technologies, and in addition to providing technical due diligence to Aramco Ventures for new investments, they also produce quarterly technology reports and are involved in developing trials and deployments for these technologies. Capital projects are typically in the pre-FEED/FEED stage and span sectors from upstream to downstream. An increasing amount of time is spent on technical due diligence in support of transactions related to targets in the Americas.
Theo’s career began in process safety management during the advent of OSHA 1910.119 regulations, exposing him to all facets of the process industry. After a brief stint in IT, most of his career has been in upstream oil and gas. A focus on floating production led to senior overseas roles on the Erha FPSO for ExxonMobil and with Malaysian FPSO lease operator Bumi Armada.
Theo has worked for Aramco Americas since 2016, initially in the Upstream Department, and for the past three years as Manager of the Engineering Division.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and later a postgraduate diploma in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Theo has served on the board of the Rice Engineering Alumni and held senior volunteer positions for several years with both the Offshore Technology Conference and the Unconventional Resources Technology Conference.
